Frost protection thermostat

Function:

The TH40 thermostat maintains a precise set temperature and cuts off power above that level to save energy.

This thermostat saves electricity by activating the system (and thus the cable) only when the temperature falls below a preset value for frost protection.

Sensor length: 3 m (This length can be extended up to 10 m using 2 x 1 mm² cable)

Frost protection

  • To optimize the system’s energy consumption, it is recommended to install a TH40 thermostat (0°C to 40°C), which will only activate the system when the temperature falls below the set point.
  • Proper positioning of the thermostat’s temperature sensor is essential. It must be placed under the insulation, against the pipe, at the point known to be the coldest in the system.

Reminder:

Depending on the total length of cable installed, a power relay should be provided, taking into account the breaking capacity of the thermostats in the range (TH40: 16 A, TH110: 10 A).

Electrical Connections

  • First, the system must be protected at the supply end by a 30 mA ground-fault circuit interrupter (GFCI) combined with a Type C circuit breaker for the pipe tracing. The amperage of this circuit breaker must be selected based on the length of the system’s cable.
  • The installation must be carried out in accordance with current electrical regulations.

The maximum length will depend on the circuit breaker’s maximum amperage:

Electrical connection of the AUTOCÂBLE cord (with power relay):

Beyond the maximum lengths and amperage supported by the thermostat, given its maximum breaking capacity, it is necessary to use a power relay. This allows a single thermostat to be used for longer cable lengths.
