Operating principle:

The DISCALSLIM air separator has an internal configuration that allows it to generate very low pressure drop. The internal section diverts part of the flow into the separation chamber. The active component consists of an internal metal grid. This grid creates vortices that promote the release of microbubbles, which adhere to the grid. The bubbles merge with one another, increasing in volume until they overcome their adhesive force to the grid. They rise to the surface, where an automatic float-type air vent removes them.

Hydraulic Specifications:

The recommended maximum fluid velocity in the degasser is 1.2 m/s. Table 2 lists the maximum flow rates to meet this requirement.

Installation:

The degasser must always be installed or removed when the system is cold and depressurized. The air separator should preferably be installed on the boiler outlet (Fig. D) and the float must be in a vertical position (Fig. E). The direction of fluid flow within the device is not important. Orient the connection tee to adapt the fittings for vertical or horizontal installation (Fig. F). For versions equipped with double-cone fittings for copper tubing, install the supplied fittings on the piping, push the tubes in until they stop, and tighten the nuts (Fig. G, H). In case of renovation, cut the tubes to the following dimensions (Fig. I): "L" = 33 mm for Ø18 mm or "L" = 28 mm for Ø22 mm. Insert the tube into the side marked with an arrow (Fig. L), then into the other side (Fig. M) until it stops, and tighten the nuts (Fig. H). It is recommended not to rotate the device after installation or subject it to excessive mechanical stress.
